study for a temple
study for a temple
The temple study is a hypothetical research project to explore architectural conditions such as sculptural and experiential spaces as well as an exploration of noble monolithic materials. Centered around a vertical courtyard with an internal and upward orientation, a series of rooms exploring these qualities and highlighting a different element. For instance, one room focuses completely out, with walls, ceiling, and floor sloping out and down to emphasize that view. Sited in a field, the project exists in no place, but also any place. It is an a-contextual experiment committed to the qualities of architectural space and form. The projects serves as somewhat of a parti for the office, and a diagram for our core tenants and ideas we continue to explore.
